14 days and counting...
Went to a local health and fitness facility with mini mountain, and the best way I can think to describe the experience is with this video game analogy. The point of this game was to bring mini mountain with me through the multiple fortress levels of the gym without being told to leave the grassy pile at the door- each level increasing with difficulty.
Take a look at this!
Level 1 The Entrance/Front Desk
Accessibility Mission: Get past front desk
-Requires membership to pass Check
Level 2 Change Rooms
Accessibility Mission: Get to your locker
-Requires regular membership or member VIP (at additional cost) Check
-Choose locker (a temporary designated space to store personal belongings) Check
**** I was pleased to have made it to this space (my goal is typically to be granted access to a building) and I do want to stress that I won't smuggle mini mountain into a space, but rather be upfront in my quasi performance objectives through respectful dialogue.
That being said... why not see if I can bring mini mountain all the way into the workout zone? I had made it this far, right?
Level 3 The Workout Zone
I chose a machine near the back corner (and the less populated space). There I found a nice sunny window ledge for mini mountain to soak in some rays while I did my thing.
Now here's what's interesting. Being positioned near the track, I watched others navigate down the lanes (one for walking, one for running) both lanes going one direction on certain days. This is a great example of a designated space with specific instructions that are followed by members (save for the one freethinker who doesn't read the sign).
****There's something here connecting that experience with what I'm trying to do. I'm still mulling it over, but themes of accessibly and questions around invisible barriers seem to come to mind. I'll leave any conclusions for you.
But I'm happy to report that mini mountain was granted access to all three levels of the building and better yet, mini mountain attracted fellow nature enthusiast at the weight station and we had a lovely discussion about plants.
